Netzwerktreffen: Deutschland als Teil der „Balkanroute“

Freitag, 25. November 2016, 18.00 Uhr –
Sonntag, 27. November 2016, 17.00 Uhr

Substanz, Frankenstraße 25a, Osnabrück

Freedom of Movement und Bleiberecht gehören zusammen

Network-meeting

Germany as Part of the „Balkan route“

Friday 25th November, 6 p.m. –

Sunday, 27th November 2016, 5 pm.Freedom of Movement and Right to Stay as two sides of the same coin!

Over the course of last year, especially since the Summer of Migration 2015, people from Germany have continuously been going the Balkans and to other regions of the outer borders of the EU in order to support people on the move and jointly fight against Europe’s foreclosure. This is getting harder because of an increased level of repression, particularly since the borders of the Balkanroute have been legally and physically been closed and increasingly militarized. Nevertheless, people still cross the borders successfully. Being there in solidarity, supporting the migration is still an important matter.

However, we should not forget that Germany, too, forms part of this route. For many people it is en route to another Northern European country, for others it is the aspired destination. In 2015, while the government hypocritically praised Germany’s „Welcoming Culture“, restrictives of the asylum laws have been passed. These laws make it impossible for many people, who back then were „welcomed“, to settle here. After a long and life threatening journey to Germany, they are left being deported or forced to leave „voluntarily“.

For those who deny to leave, the only possibility for staying in the country, is to underground, to become “illegal”.Being “illegal” in this country means living a life without rights and dignity, moving in public space in permanent insecurity and fear of being checked for papers and consequentially remain in a relative social isolation. For many, there are no reliable sources of money, housing spaces, food and medical provision. Even worse, „sans papiers“ are systematically stigmatized and illegalized.

Thus, solidarity with illegalized people is not about charity. It is about supporting people in reconquering their human rights. Something that is considered essential to modern state’s citizenship.

At the network-meeting in Osnabrück, we want to talk about following questions:

– Joining forces with people who have poor perspectives of getting a legal status in Germany, what opportunities do we have to jointly fight for fundamental rights for all?

– How can we realize a perspective to stay aside of the asylum system?

– How can we dismiss the picture of the „criminal illegal migrant“?

– How can we make the support of illegalized people a public and political topic?

Furthermore, we would like to use this meeting for creating a network that supports people from the very moment of arrivings in Germany. Support, thereby, is understood as any kind of substantial supportand as a reference point also in cities of transfer.

At best, people already know about this network during their travel, so that they have a point of orientation from the very beginning. So, let’s talk about those topics and questions on the 26th and 27th November, let’s get to know each other and learn from each other!

Food for donation is offered, sleeping places are no problem. It would be great, if you could let us know that you are coming, so that we can plan appropriately!

Willkommen!

Freedom of movement!

[Balkanroute] At the moment activists from Osnabrück and other cities are at the borders of Serbia, Macedonia and Greece. After several stops, they are currently in Belgrade and Thessaloniki, in order to support the development and networking of independent structures and refugees on the move.

Here you can find the latest reports of the group on our blog:

Welcome!
Nice and important that you look around on this blog.

Here are some reports of people from the transnational Open Border Network that currently support refugees on the move in Europe. We go to the EU’s external borders in order – unlike the major aid organizations – to self-organized and efficiently support people who want to use their right of freedom of movement, but are prevented from doing so by the violence and power monopolies of the EU system. The most important for us is to directly support People. In addition, we want to document and publish our experiences on this page. We would therefore call all people into consciousness, in what kind of a system, we actually live and what impact this has on thousands and thousands of peoples fates.

If this issue moves you as it moves us, then get active! For example, by sharing this page or here published reports with your friends and relatives. Or you can respond to current donation-calls. You can get in touch with us to support people who go to the borders. Or you can go with other people at the borders. Its important to do something and get active! And lets look for alternatives and ways to create a world in which every person can move freely!
